The history department at Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly UMR) has been hosting the Region 8 National History Day competition for over thirty years. The purpose of this competition is to encourage students to conduct research about an interesting event or person, turn information gathered during the research into a cohesive argument, and present the final product in the form of a presentation, a documentary, a website, an exhibit, or a paper. Completing such a project evidences critical thinking and communication skills that are essential for everyone who wants to suceed in any profession.
